Europe Day: Celebrating the past, shaping the future

Europe Day, every 9th of May, is an homage to the Schuman Declaration of May 9th 1950

Determined to prevent another dreadful war, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Schuman was one of the driving forces of the European project.

In his Declaration, he proved to be visionary as he said that : “Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity.”

We celebrate this years the 60th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Rome too. European industry social partners have joined efforts for one message : stand together making the European project a success story for the next 60 years and beyond.

industriAll-European trade union and Ceemet consider this anniversary as a key opportunity to celebrate the benefits the European Union brings to its citizens, workers and enterprises. It is as well as a key moment to express their views for reinvigorating the European project.
