Ceemet believes that any Occupational Safety & Health strategy should be postponed until the Commission completes its evaluation and review of the existing OSH legislation.

Ceemet key message
The European Commission's inter-service consultation for a proposed Communication on a possbile new EU OSH policy framework/strategy comes too early. A consortium is, upon request of the Commission, evaluating the implementation of all 24 EU Workplace H&S Directives in the Member States with the view to asses their relevance and effectiveness.
The report is due in 1 year (and costs €2.000.000) so the Commission should take a pragmatic approach and allow the evaluation to be completed.
